Dustin Mathis
Dustin Mathis coaches Freshman Football and JV Boys
Basketball at Castleberry High School.
Coach Mathis played basketball at Chisholm Trail High
School, as a four-year Varsity player and has the record for most wins in
school history. He played four years of NCAA D3 basketball as a 3-year starter his
final three seasons and led the team to its first SCAC Conference Championship
appearance in school history.
Coach Mathis has owned and operated his own basketball
skills development business for the last 5 years, and has trained over 75
players in the DFW metroplex, with players ranging from elementary school kids
to professional basketball players.
Coach Mathis’ in-school coaching experience started in
August of 2023 at Castleberry High School, and his growth in coaching will be
in the sports of football, basketball, or whatever sport he is needed in. He has
been inducted into the Texas Business Hall of Fame for the entrepreneurial work
of his skills training services, GTG Basketball Training LLC.
Coach Mathis is married to his beautiful wife, Megan, whom
he’s been married to for over a year now. They enjoy trying new restaurants,
going on hikes, movie dates, and playing volleyball.
His goal as an educator and coach is to teach students and
athletes that every decision they make affects more than just themselves. They
have an effect on those around them, and what they choose to do is more
important than they think. Coach Mathis wants them to understand that their
decisions and habits make all the difference in their sports, classes, and
lives. His coaching philosophy is to instill confidence in players, whether
that’s on the field, court, class, or in society, so they choose to do
something positive no matter what life throws at them.
